Networking

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

While we do not do tech support on networking using a Local Area Network (LAN), here are some idea's that might help you or your technicians out. Please understand we cannot be responsible for your networking anymore that being responsible for your printer. If you follow these instructions you can get by in many cases without a technician. However, if you have more than a couple of computers or you are having issues networking, we advise getting a network technician. We will be happy to talk to your tech to explain how to set it up.

Our program does not do the networking, Windows does. Our software shares the data, it it not 'synchronized'. That means each computer accesses the data on the 'Server'. I put the server in quotes because it does not have to be a real windows server. It is merely the computer that has all of the data on it.

Our program installs into the c:\wrench folder. Install the program on each computer individually and make sure they are all the same version (very very important).

Next you need to Share the wrench folder, then go to each client (workstation) and find the computer and map a drive letter to it (we prefer W:)
