Icons on Desktop

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

This happens if you have a Local Area Network (LAN) and a connection went bad. The program is usually installed on each computer. Then, in the shortcut we have you change the Start-In to the mapped drive, usually we have you map the shared folder as W. (W is really the c:\wrench folder on the main computer). However, the program when it is run will create the data files if they do not exist. And because you ran the program from your desktop and the Start in didn't exist as far as the program is concerned, it creates the data files on the desktop that look like a bunch of white icons.

To fix it, you need to get your connection back. You can safely delete all of the (white) data icons on the desktop, then try again. Sometimes the computer doesn't connect on it's own, so in order to connect, try running File Explorer (The yellow icon), then find the W: drive and click on it. It probably has a crossed out circle on the folder. If you click on it and that icon goes away and your files show up, you're good to go.
